Our Story
Rooted Western started the way most honest things do — not with a business plan, but with a feeling.
Summer had always believed in living close to the land. Clean ingredients. Slower days. The kind of home where you light a candle at the end of the day and actually feel something shift. As a lifelong maker with a deep appreciation for western living, she started pouring candles the way she wanted to live: intentionally, without shortcuts, with care for what goes into your home.
Why candles?
Because a candle does something that most products don't — it changes the feeling of a room. The right scent on the right evening turns a regular Tuesday into something that feels deliberate. And when that candle is made with clean ingredients, no phthalates, no petroleum wax, no compromise — it becomes something you can light without thinking twice.
What goes into every Rooted Western candle
- 100% soy wax — renewable, plant-based, cleaner burn than paraffin
- Phthalate-free fragrance oils — carefully selected for safety and scent quality
- Natural wooden wick — that soft crackle, that even burn
- Hand-poured in Calgary — small batches, real attention to each one
Every scent is named for a place or feeling rooted in the Canadian West. Driftwood Prairie. High Plains. Fireside Homestead. They're meant to bring you somewhere — or bring that feeling home.
What Rooted Western is really about
It's about slowing down in a world that doesn't make that easy. Light a candle when you get home. Taking 20 minutes that are just yours. Living rooted — in faith, in nature, in the small blessings in front of you.
We're a small, family-run business, and every order means something to us. If you have questions about our candles or ingredients, we're always happy to talk.
